NXNE Art gives people the power to participate – not simply spectate. NXNE Art 2014 brings together influential creators of the North East who are transforming their surroundings and the urban experience.
From well trafficked Yonge-Dundas Square to found spaces on unassuming walls, local and international artists will take over public spaces throughout the city, building highly visible, disruptive installations. Called Urban Takeovers, we’re transforming pedestrian experience, revitalizing lost space, bringing life to alleyways, and bringing forward public engagement rooted in art.
Meet artist, Alex Senna.
Alex Senna is an artist from São Paulo, Brazil, whose expressive, lanky characters bring a softness to their urban setting. These characters typically revolve around love and relationships, whether it be a romance between an elderly couple, playful young lovers, or sentiments of a lasting friendship.
When asked what we should expect from Alex when he arrives in Toronto, he responded: “Well, I’m gonna bring to Toronto everything that happens with me here in Brazil, so expect a lot of revolt and love!”
