Ambient musicians Justin Huang Ford and Matt Romerein otherwise known as NAVI, performed selects from their upcoming album “Derelict_528” as a special art event at NXNE in June. The creatives of Studio 223A, an intimate studio space turned venue in the heart of Kensington market collaborated for a unique experience. The artists played piano, guitar, voice electronics, tape ambience, and kalimba (or thumb piano) to present an atmosphere where overtones of modern classical, drone, doom jazz and metal reinforced the sub bass of modern dub influences. A custom stage designed by Javier Lovera and SUMO Project was used as the canvas for their original videos and visuals, which were projected and mapped by Derooted Creative Agency, heightening the sensory experience enveloping 45 viewers in a fully immersive exploration of sound, light and imagery.
