How I Did It (02/22/12)
Seeing Sounds CONTACT 2010
Together myself and artist Kwame Delfish we approached the idea of “Seeing Sounds” – A dedication to the rhythmic vibrations that have played a role in my life and Kwame’s. Hip Hop, Jazz, and Drumming the musical genres we are celebrating; having a personal connection with them gave us a perfect creative marriage. We chose 3 iconic tools of sounds – the boombox, the trumpet and the djembe, each subject photographed by me and printed on canvas, after that they were handed over to Kwame for him to explore and heighten the photographic image of each subject into a unique and hyper-realistic piece using by way of his paint stroke with the intention of adding a new layer of narration for the viewer.
